The Concrete Consultancy 2000 Ltd were commissioned on the 11th October to undertake a concrete condition survey of the concrete elements to Alresford Viaduct Bridge No.0328.
The investigation comprised a visual and hammer rap survey of external concrete elements, site testing to establish cover to the steel reinforcement, the depth of carbonation, the chloride content of concrete samples, assessment of the loss of section to the steel reinforcement and half-cell potential measurements and resistivity measurements to determine corrosion activity and rate. Further laboratory analysis included cement content of concrete samples and petrographic analysis of concrete cores.
